Rebel without may be one Natalie’s most famous movies. She starred opposite the iconic James Dean. The film also featured Sal Mineo. Natalie Wood and Sal Mineo both received Oscar nominations in the supporting role category for this movie. The Oscars went to Jack Lemmon and Jo Van Fleet instead.
The story centers on Jim Stark who has recently moved into town. Jim has a history of trouble making. He meets Judy and Plato in town. Once in town Jim feels he still must prove himself. He gets involved in a game of “Chickie”. Something goes terribly wrong during the game.
Rebel is a classic. It has been preserved by the Library of Congress in the National Film Registry. It is also number 59 on the top 100 film list of the past 100 years by AFI.
